چکیده

A systematic approach for on-the-fly mechanism reduction is proposed in this paper. The approach consists of element flux analysis and dynamic generation of reduced mechanisms during reactive flow computation. At each time step of the computation, a reduced mechanism is generated based on local conditions and no previous information or analysis is necessary. The approach is demonstrated in a plug-flow reactor (PFR) model and a pairwise mixing stirred reactor (PMSR) model. A detailed n-pentane oxidation mechanism with 385 species and 1895 elementary reactions and a primary reference fuel (PRF) mechanism with 1034 species and 4236 reactions are used to illustrate the proposed approach. Auto-ignition delay, temperature, and species composition profile predicted by the on-the-fly reduction scheme agree with the detailed simulation and experimental results over a wide range of temperatures and equivalence ratios. & 2009 Elsevier Ltd. Numerical Investigation of Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) Combustion with Detailed Chemical Kinetics Using On-the-Fly Reduction

An on-the-fly mechanism reduction approach is employed in this paper to integrate detailed chemical kinetics with a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code. The reduction methodology employs an instantaneous element flux analysis to identify redundant species and reactions for given local conditions. The emphasis of this work is focused on the numerical study of homogeneous charge compression i...

A Hybrid Kinetic Mechanism Reduction Scheme based on the On-the-fly Reduction and Quasi-steady-state Approximation

A hybrid kinetic mechanism reduction approach combining global reduction and dynamic reduction methods is proposed in the present work. The approach is based on the dynamic flux-based on-the-fly reduction and the globally applied quasi-steady-state approximation (QSSA). Globally identified quasisteady-state (QSS) species are separated from the kinetic ODEs and described by a set of nonlinear al...

Experimental and 3D Finite Element Analysis of a Slotless Air-Cored Axial Flux PMSG for Wind Turbine Application

In this research paper, the performance of an air-cored axial flux permanent magnet synchronous generator is evaluated for low speed, direct drive applications using 3D finite element modeling and experimental tests. The structure of the considered machine consists of double rotor and coreless stator, which results in the absence of core losses, reduction of stator weight and elimination of cog...

A greenhouse experiment has been planned for this study to delineate the benefits of two types of rice husk biochars (namely B300 and B600 which are prepared at 300°C and 600°C, respectvely) and coal fly ash (CFA), as soil amendments, for decreasing the amount of some heavy metals (like Pb, Cd, Ni, Cr, and Cu) as well as mobility and phytoavailability in an artificially-calcareous multi-element...
